Please note that all photographic images on this site have been drastically reduced in size and quality for display on the World Wide Web. When viewing an image from the web, the colours you see on your monitor will most likely be slightly different to those of the same image seen on another monitor. Considering the overwhelming amount of variation that comes with the various brands, sizes and types of monitors available; in addition an individual monitor's settings; it is basically impossible to prepare an image for display on the internet that will exactly reflect how that image will look when printed. The same factors also apply when comparing a printed image from your own desktop printer to that of another or a print produced by a professional photo processing lab. In order to minimise any difference between what you see on your monitor and the final print output (with some consideration that the monitor you are using has been setup to a reasonable standard), every effort has been made at the source end of web content production for the Outimage web site, in order to conform to industry standard colour management requirements. Factors such as having our workstation monitors correctly calibrated to the same standard used by our professional print reproduction lab are critically adhered to. Despite all our best efforts and that of any professional photographic processing lab we use, we can not guarantee an exact colour match between an image displayed on your monitor and any final print output. However, the print that you will end up with will still look good, even if it does not exactly match the sample image shown on the web site. |

| Due to receiving notice from our current photo lab that they will be closing down their online access to order prints
at the end of 2007, the Outimage Online Sales Gallery will be suspended until further notice. Combined with what has been a considerably small
demand for purchasing prints, there are no current plans to set up any replacement service. However this situation may be reassessed in early
2008, depending on the level of local Australian market interest. Despite not having access to an online purchasing facility, ad-hoc orders for prints can still be purchased by email request with payment made either by cash, or EFT. At this stage, credit card payments can not be accepted. For email contact, please go to the Contact info page to access an email address. |

| The simple answer to this question is no. Digital files are not available for purchase by the general public. | ||||||||||
| Providing photographic coverage of ocean yacht racing at the level that is provided for the Outimage website is very expensive. And if you examine the shots taken of the line honours winner at the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Sydney Hobart, it is also not difficult to see that there is a high level of risk to equipment with enormous potential of permanent damage by salt water. The photographers that contribute yacht racing photography to the Outimage site seem to do it more unfortunately for the love of the sport rather than the money. As a result, they need to earn their living in other fields not only to sustain their own existence, but to also heavily subsidise their passion to photograph major yacht racing events. And the story is basically the same for the very small number of other local yachting photographers in Australia, who also provide excellent material for other sailing and yachting websites and publications. People have asked for digital files, obviously to print off as many prints as they want at any size at a minimal expense to themselves. Recently, one person had even tried to fraudulently obtain a digital file by pretending to be a media representative of a yacht club to use in their magazine. Unfortunatly, even the very low resolution photographs used on the Outimage website are not safe, as many often turn up within the pages of online forums like Sail Anarchy with no credit to the photographer or any reference to the source website. This is why the the Outimage website URL now appears on new images that are uploaded onto the web. Our appreciation does go out to those who have used the online print purchasing facility in the past to purchase prints that were available at very reasonable prices. As all these purchases were related to yachting, it is these people who actually provide much needed support and encouragement to those photographers specialising in yachting to continue with their work. Without such support from the Australian yachting community, it can be quite a struggle to maintain an interest in photographing some of the best yacht racing events in the world and not thinking about giving it all away to actually go sailing instead. Without trying (as the initial plan of the Outimage website was to cover a broad range of topics besides yachting), the Outimage website has evolved into a substantial online photographic archive of yacht racing in Australia. It has become a huge resource to the Australian yachting community providing coverage mostly from Peter Andrews, since the 2001 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. To keep it going, we simply can't afford to give away our work in the form of digital files. For what could be defined as a valuable resource to the Australian yachting community, the Outimage website is one that makes a huge contribution towards promoting the sport; ultimately enhancing the level of interest by companies and corporations both large and small; local and global; to provide a sufficient level of sponsorship that provides the opportunities for people to get out there to race their boats to Hobart or Coffs Harbour and so on. So before you ask about obtaining a digital file, please consider all the above and be prepared to receive a simple reply containing the simple two letter word “no”. |
